    Sights for .50s

These are not historic sights. These sights were made by using the .target command, extreme zoom, and an image editor. These sights attempt to display where your bullets will land at the specified convergence settings. These sights assume level flight. The ticks are N/A in a climb or dive. Mostly used for pinging those damn 190s and LAs trying to run from you. These sights attempt to split the difference between where the bullets would go if your plane was bolted down, and where the bullets actually go due to the recoil of a 1/2 second burst.

The "ORDS" hash is in the same location as the bottom hash of the default gunsight.

Remember to save as .bmp file.

    K-4 30mm Tool

I worked on this sight for an hour or more and finished yesturday. Not so much the aesthetics but the where I needed to put the T.

If you open it up in a program like Gimp ( Gimp.com) you'll notice the T is at about 169. The bottom v can also be used to gauge where to shoot.

128x128 is center dot position as always.... but forget about that if your not into making sights. Just concentrate on where the plane should be to hit it w a 30mm. ..Give it a try in Offline Mode

Worked so well I was able to also use it in a N1K1 and a SPIT so I made it my default. I'd like to make it prettier but my main concerns were WHERE TO PUT THE Marks. The V on the bottom is for Mid G cannon pulls on Nik and seemed to work out very well in the main.

Copy, Paste and rename a BMP file right from here if needed and place in your Hitech folder under sights. Easy as pie.

    Tools,

HiTech built his MK108 ballistics table from this publication. Handbuch der Flugzeug Bordwaffenmunition 1936-1945. Download it here:

    http://ebookee.org/Handbuch-der-Flug...45_956198.html

Page 29 of 257 lists the ballistics table of the MK108 3cm round at 500M/sec. You can calc the drop at distance with a ballistic angular Mil formula like I did originaly until I found a WW2 color photo of a Revi16b illuminated graticule along with translating a Revi manual.

If you want to know the 400 and 600 yards compensation drop points open one of my Revi16b gunsights. It's the two ticks below center if you are building gunsights in 512x512 mode. The 100Mil ring is for estimating range by wingspan and lead per the Reflexvisier manuals.

You will never create a dead eye MK108 gunsight because HiTech has introduced more realistic dispersion now as of the 2.25 release. Just remember the two ticks are based on a MK108 locked into the DB605 engine inline with the aircrafts centerline. Means you have to set convergence to 200-250 in the hanger to match the real ballistics tables. HiTech cheats and lets you tilt the gunbarrel inside of the engine for some reason. I got yelled at by him for proving he does it last year.

At 200 yards the dispersion cone along with randomised flyers is about 14 feet. By 400 yards(30ft cone) the thing is almost usless now except against bombers, much like real life. Thats why the Me262 has the most effective implementation of the MK108 in the game. Many 109 pilots prefered taking up a 109 with an MG151/20 motorkanon if they were sure fighter to fighter combat would happen. The MK108 as a motorkanon was detested as a fighter to fighter weapon because of it's crappy ballistics. Add to this Internet lag......

Go to this AH post and download a tool to perform ballistics testing against the offline target. You won't have to take screen shots after this.

Your graticule looks alot like a Reflex Tactical tubeless gunsight's sight picture. The original player to introduce those way back when probably was a shooter and built what was familur to him. The ring is 100Mil. Bomb mark at 50Mil below center along with two lower bisect indicators at about 15Mil and 30Mil below center.
