Thanks Syko! That means a lot to me. It's been a pretty crazy couple of years for me in a lot of ways and coming back sure feels good. Really good.

I'm seriously struggling getting my keys mapped. For some reason I can't get the game to map the keys on my joystick properly. They won't "take" and keep defaulting to the presets. For example, I'm using my old Logitech Extreme 3d Pro- I use to have the #3 button set to be my up and behind view. The game has it set to fire my cannons. I can't get it to remap. I'm going to log in now and try and get my vox set-up correctly so that maybe someone can walk me through it.

I'm still trying to find the free time to be online when Waystin is so I can have that talk with him that we talked about a few weeks ago (Way, I think I'm being poached into das schweinwaffen by Krup and his IIIrd wing). Next week or this weekend sometime probabley I'll be online to get things moving.

Ok, I have to apologize up front for my noobieness. It's been so long since I've played that I don't remember half of the set-up in the game. I also had company over last night and that made it even more difficult to manage the game. I don't even remember how to issue a check 6. Anyhow, I'm going to focus really hard this afternoon on getting all my set-up finished and trying not to look like a complete and total nub. Please be patient with me and try not to laugh too hard =P

Once I get set-up I'll also sit down and fill everyone in on where I've been, where I'm at, and all that.

It feels really good to be back.

I came back to AH over a year ago, before that I last played it in 2000/2001. It's a learning curve, gonna be slow for the first week or two, then the next weke or two it will all come back to ya. Welcome back, sir.

I'll look into the joystick keymapping thing on the support forum, are you using Windows Vista or XP btw? For now, we'll go down the obvious basics checklist.
1) After mapping a key, you're sleecting "Apply" and "OK", not "Cancel" or closing the window.
2) Make sure you're keymapping for the correct "mode". If you're mapping keys for mode 2, then it won't work unless you select to use mode 2. Default flight is "mode 1" I believe.
3) Update your logitech driver. I'm using a modern Logitech Extreme 3d Pro myself. No problems, keys or views that I set are only forgotten if I set them and then don't shut down the game program properly.

Great to hear Jolly, I'm looking forward to finally flying with you and everyone else here real soon myself. Any other questions or info ya need, just ask.

FYI - many of us are still gettting used to the new video graphics settings (that came out with the graphic and terrain update not too long ago) and most recently the new audio coding/engine being used in the game called "Miles", also with a new settings layout. These should be two most bug-prone and mysterious areas in the game right now, for you and everyone, so don't go bald pulling your hair out over any problems associated in those areas of the game right now.

Maybe the new audio coding would explain the 2 very nasty crashes I've experienced. Game is rendering sound, then it gets stuck in a stutter/repeat mode of a single sound, then everything freezes, then I have to hard kill the comp to escape. Kinda the suck but it's only happened twice now.

The flying is coming back very steadily. I've been sticking primarily to a few planes- my KI84 of DOOM, the f6f, and then a couple random hops in some other rides, but I figure sticking to a couple specific planes is best for now. I'm getting some kills, somewhat holding my own, and it's all coming back. My gunnery still needs some serious work though. I should be getting more kills but I aim so poorly that some Bishrooks get away =(
