I'm not much of a Buff Driver, and actually prefer the Typh to do my eggin BUT I love to fly big azz buff raids with ya'll and wish to be more effective..BUT...just end up missing alot.I got the caliberation stuff down courtesy of our good friend Shelby wu..but in terms of Bombsight adjustment... how far forward should you be looking in the bombsight per your favorite BUFF? Any help here? Maybe a relative angle that works for you? I love the B24s me self.

Usually what I do, and i'll try to explain as well as I can with it being 1AM and about 100 degrees in the computer room.
When I am coming up to base and my goal is the VH.
(I usually fly the B17 with 12 500LBS)
As I am approaching the base but pretty far out. 10-12K is best for bombing, for me anyway. I'll go to bombsite and hit the 'U' button. I move my stick foward (that swings the site up ) as straight as possible until I can see the base at distance, and more importantly, the VH.
Say the VH is way off to the right. I'll make quick adjustments, then go back and repeat what I did. I'll keep doing that until my site is lined up with the VH. Then i'll open up the bombbay doors, then calibrate for the drop.
Remember with 500 LBS, you can get several hits close to it and still bring it down.
Hope this helps

what i do is hit u to open calibration, then y to calibrate, and i open the E6B and make sure the calibrated speed is exactly the same as the true speed in the E6B

GowGow had good point and overall is right but figured I would chim in.
If you are flying straight and level while lined up with target. Once you do calibrate and drop bombs. Your speed is basically the same anyway, give or take few MPH

yeah i got the caliberation thing....it's just the view i was talking about. I guess my real problem is obviously guessing when to pull the trigger :)
I'll keep working at it thank you very much !
Gow Gow and Rogent it is an honor to fly with y'all :)

Likewise.
And I usually start dropping eggs when the crosshairs are barely just under the target; that way the bombs will ''walk'' up until it actually hits it. With even 250BLS, each hit near does damage to VHs.

well quick question, does anyone else use zoom when dropping?
also, since i calibrate it perfectly to my speed i just drop it right in the middle of the hangar, perfect hit every time

I ALWAYS use zoom when dropping, however I don't zoom in all the way unless I'm like 25k or something..
Since every base is oriented exactly the same (meaning that V bases always face the same way and small, medium, and large air bases always face the same way) I just start my approach from way out and make minor adjustments while looking through the bomb site angled up and zoomed in as far as I need to be to see it.. So, I usually only have to make one or two passes depending on what I want to take out.
One secret I'm not sure you guys know about is that at medium bases, you can salvo 3 bombs at .05 delay in the middle of the two hangers on the pad where they are closest together (don't remember which one) and it'll take out both hangers.. Sometimes, I'll line up so I can take out the VH and those two hangers at once.. Kinda scares people sometimes..
