In addition to my aviation hobbies, I also rather enjoy chasing tornados and severe storms. I have drawn up plans for a "sacrifical" R/C aircraft which could be flown INTO a tornado vortex, and allowed to just go with the wind, with instruments aboard which measure wind speed, pressure, etc.. as well as a wireless video camera for visual recording. Basically it would be flown towards the tornado itself, until the tornados wind pulled the aircraft into the vortex, at which point it would be on its own. Of course the plane could NOT be recovered mroe than likely, and would be destroyed, but, it could return valuable information about the meteorlogical makeup of the interior of a tornado. Maybe some day ill build it!
