Jolly,
You mentioned that you wish you had more info on the AVA rules and such. I pulled together everything that I could find. The info is posted below:
War is coming to the AvA
For our next setup, we'll be hosting a War between Germany and Allied forces. How is this going to work? EVERYONE - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!
a) Both sides start off with a map and a set # of bases.
b) Each week, each side will have primary objectives set. I.e. Capture base(s) 45 and 46 AND hold them until Date XX at XX time. There are 5 sets of objectives to complete and win the war.
c) If both sides completes their objectives, or if both objectives are not met, the war continues.
d) If one side completes their objectives, the battle-line is move forward for the winning side with additional bases
e) Additional targets are given (secondary objectives) that if complete in additional to the successful primary, bonuses are given. I.e. a newer aircraft or vehicle.
f) To win the war, all 5 objectives have to be successfully met over the 5 weeks.
In order to expedite and assist in the war, we require Generals for each side. If you are interest, we recommend that you are a) in a squadron, and b) have experience leading men in battle, either in real life or online. In addition, squadrons can declare their allegiance to which side they are fighting for.
We need for each side:
A) Commander in Chief
B) 2 I/C
C) Squadrons to declare their nationality.
Please reply to this message or PM if you are interested and to declare your nationality.
Who are you? Are you Axis or Allied?

Sitrep from Admins
1. We're working with Skuzzy to create two discussion forums - one for allied, the other Axis. Depending on what side you declared, we'll be adding you to each forum.
2. We're making a change in the reward for the winning and loosing side for each round. For round 2, each commander will have the choice of substituting aircraft up to a specific year, two for the winning commander, one for the loosing. For example, if Axis wins, the choice is up to 1942. They can add:
Bf 109F-4
Bf 109G-2
Bf 110G-2
Fw 190A-3 (sub A-5)
C.202
Ju 88A-4
M-3 Halftrack
Tiger I
Allied Choices
A-20G
B-26B
Boston MK III
Hurricane II C or D
Lancaster III
P-38G
P-40E
Seafire IIC
Spitfire V
Spitfire Mk IX
Il-2 Type 3
Sherman
3. I've also been considering points to award each commander, and then assign them to the vehicles/aircraft to spend at the end of each round. This of course would depend on what they've captured at the end of each round. I.e. capture 4 bases = 8 points. A Spit V might be 3 points, and a B-26B 4.
4. We will also announce the map before the next round so that commanders and squads can make recommendations on what 'weapons' to pick based on the next location.
As time goes along, we'll be tweaking each session to ensure the gameplay is balanced for all (ie. radar settings, AAA settings).
Medals and Awards
Here is an example of the campaign medal up for grabs.
You'll be able to display this medal on your website, and signatures (though not here at HTC). Though, not yet. The war isn't over.
Objectives for Round 2
Gentlement, your objectives for this round:
Primary Target: Capture and hold A7 until Thursday 11:59pm.
Seconary Target: Destroy Radar, fuel, and soldier factories around A7 until Thursday 11:59pm.
Success options: 3 x 1943 craft choices for next round
Medals idea
What if your medal ribbons looked like this? Skuzzy is working on a solution for us so that when we hand out our medals, players can wear them on the forums.

Here is part 2 of the info Jolly:
updated AvA war rules and objectives to begin with round 3
Here is the updated AvA rules that will be ineffect for this next round along with the objectives... If it works out we will continue to use them, if not we'll modify and continue to move forward with other ideas....
---Chain of command -------------------------
force commander: (The man, in the hot seat for all five rounds)
XO:..(a force commander can assign one person as XO. The XO may act in behalf of the force commander, such as plane selections and field deployments.)
battle captains:..(A force commander can appoint as many battle captains as he wants)
A thread should be created by the force commander in the private forum stating who these people are. If no thread exists they will not be recognized by the AvA staff...
AvA war Deployment Rules --------------
1.) Rounds change/end weekly on Thursday 10:00pm CST, maps may or may not change after the round. The side that owns the most fields since the start of the round wins that round. The Winner gets to choose 4 aircraft from next round list and loser gets to pick three.
2.)All fields will be set with the 1st round airplanes, except the C47 which will only be deployed at owned fields at the start of the round. As the next round begins all planes picked from the previous round will be made available at all fields. Any new aircraft selected for the beginning of a new round can only be deployed using deployment points.
3.) At the beginning of the new round the force commander will be given 8 deployment points, to deploy the new aircraft that has been selected for the round. For each deployment point the commander may place one aircraft type at one field. The same aircraft type may be used multiple times. Commanders may pick any field even ones that have not been captured yet. This includes placing aircraft at a V fields. If the commander does not want to use up all his points at once he may hold on to them until he is ready to use them.
general rule..............
4 - small maps (64, 128)
8 - large maps (256, 512)
AvA war Map Objectives ----------------
Theses objectives are the default objectives for the AvA war and will always be used for game play. The max number of claims for a single day is one. If there is more than one the force commander must choose which one to use.
1.) field caputures objectives---
For every 5 'new' fields that is captured(this number can change based on map size), the force commander will get three deployment points and one removal piont. A removal point is used against the opposing force to remove one aircraft type from one field. The same fields can not be recaptured again for that round.
general rule..............
3 - small maps (64, 128)
5 - large maps (256, 512)
2.) strategic objectives --- (city, fuel factory, radar factory, barrack factory, ack factory)
If three strategic tgts are brought down to 15% within a 48 hour period the force commander will get two deployment points and one removal point. Force commander will also be allowed to pick one new aircraft from the current round list. This objective may only be claimed once in a round. Some maps may require the AvA staff may designate what is a valid strategic objective.
3.) Custom objectives may be announced at any time by the AvA staff when opportunities are present. Rewards and penalties will be given if such objectives are met.
---Confirming Objectives when they are met
Any Map objective achieved must go through a confirmation process before giving any rewards or penalties. Burden of proof is on those making the claim. The following must happen before considering an objective as being acheived:
1.) The AvA arena must have 15 or more people on at the time the objective is achieved.
2.) The opposing force cannot have less than 50% in numbers compared to the acting force achieving the objective.
3.) The event must be recorded on film(this does not need to be presented when making the claim unless it is asked for).
4.) Two or more people that are not in the same squad must be able to confirm it.
5.) The achieved objective must be declared within 24 hours in the public AvA forum.
To let the AvA staff know that a map objective has been achieved the following must be done:
1.) A new thread in the public AvA forum must be created stating that a Map objective has been acheived in it's title.
2.) The thread must state what objective was, when it was acheived, and what squad they are in.
3.) The thread must also contain a print screen showing the map objective that was achieved followed by a print screen showing the roster count along with the user ID of the person making the post.
4.) AT least one other person not from the same squad must reply in the same thread confirming that it was acheived.
The opposing force may challenge any claim of a Map objective being achieved. However they must do so within 48 hours after someone has made the claim. Challenges may only come from the force Commander, his XO, or his appointed battle captains. A Challenge may not be accepted after the 48 hours period even if it's a valid challenge.
Burden of proof falls on thoses claiming to have obtained the objective. Anyone flying in the AvA may bring a possible challenge to the attention of the force Commander, XO, or battle captain,. However they must be the ones to decide whether or not to act on it. If a challenge is given but is wrong(this includes challenges by battle captains and the XO), the side offering the challenge will have one aircraft type removed from a field by choice of the opposing force commander... No penalty will be given to the side claiming to have 'achieved the objective' if it is found to be in error.
Any changes/updates to be made to the map can take up to 2-5 days....

If primary objectives are not met, then secondary become very important. So if you are having a hard time capturing the airfield, go for the bombing runs on the strat objects. Who ever has the best % down will win the round.
Winner gets to pick 4 aircraft, looser 3.
Field Deployment...
Here will be the field layouts for the start of the next round....
allies are bishop
axis will be rooks...
(yes i know they have switched)
force commanders once you have your aircraft selections and field deployments ready please post in this thread what your choices will be....
I will be setting up the arena some time early Friday morning... so if you get your choices in I will set them up... You do not have to use all your deployment points at once, you can use them at any time u wish, but remember it may take 2-4 days before anyone in the AvA staff can get to it...

updates for the map situation
It appears the strategy objectives will not be possible with the Italy map, becuase the behavior is not working as expected.
So for italy map the strategy objectives will not be in play..... I will announce a custom objective that will take it's place....
Hope this helps bro!

This is the last part Jolly:
After playing several hours this Friday in the arena the field capture objective seems to be working as planned. There will be one small change, instead of requiring all '5' fields being captured at once before making a claim. Individual fields may be claimed at a time, and multiple fields can be claimed in a single day. This will be accumlative so once you reach a total of five u will get the additional deployment points as described. The fields can only be claimed once per round. so if you lose the field to your opponents and then later recapture the same field you can not make another claim for it. Fields may still be claimed even if it's lost 10 minutes later. As long as it passes the arena requirements we put out and is verified by more than two people not in the same squad, it's good to go...
After discussing with the rest of the AvA staff, you can use a deployment point to place non-carrier type aircraft on a CV.. This is being done for game play not historical accuracy.
Custom Objective for Allies....
Primary:
take a65....
2 deployment points
secondary:
take v88:
1 deployment points
If you take both tgts by Tuesday 10:00pm CST you will be allowed to pick one new craft from the list. This new pick will be treated as a round pick. These fields if captured will not be counted towards the default field capture objective...
Keep in mind the axis has been given objectives as well.....
What to do if there are no/little AXIS forces on?
Please do not capture bases if you do not have sufficient opponents. The term is 'milk-running' and is not considered professional conduct for the AvA.
You have strategic targets to keep you occupied.
If you have any issues with this occurring, please post your evidence in here. I have enabled attachments and pictures in this forum.
