SA is all you need to score alot of kills in the MA. Players like sko, hoagi, pacerr, and a few others arent actually that good of dogfighters....they just have great SA which keeps them completely out of trouble.
SA starts when you first look at your map. Find out where the fights on and try to guess whats going on by looking at the dar bar and the friendly or if Dar is up the enemy dots on the map. If a base is getting alot of enemy dar over it, up from another base. If there is hardly any red dar over an enemy base but you see red dar coming from a further base, grab some extra alt and find the incoming high cons.
Once you find a fight you need to choose the right plane for the fight. If your high alt fighting you dont want to bring a LA or a zeak. I have different rides for every type of fighting these days.
-KI84 furball/defensive fight
-TA152 Higher alt fight/BNZ
-Mossie BNZ fighting/ offensive furball......meaning we got the upperhand
Many of POTW fly different rides, Syko is a LA driver, Krup flys a 109, and Aspen/Jolly fly KI84s.......you can ask these people for help in those rides, Ill teach you about any of the rides except hurris/zeaks/brews/ or I16s....those are all girly rides.
After you chose your plane and are climbing out to your target AO, you need to be constently be scanning aroundfor dots/cons, looking at your map, and reading the text buffer for important information. Our sqaud as a whole needs to start typing out what we are doing on sqaud channel so vox doesnt get so congested and everyone knows where sqauddies are.
example.....JunkyII:189: Im inbound A156 in a KI84 at 12k.
................or waystin2:189:Im in a whirbel at A156 near town if anyone needs a clear.
................also Syko:189:Im in a goon heading to A156 ETA 15mins( :D )
Once your at the fight you still need to be watching your map, text buffer adn radio to see whos with in range vox(which works outside of visual range). But know you need to pay attention to enemies in the AO. Thinking about the different plane types, I used to fly a typh alot and I would kill all the LAs before dealing with the rest. If your Bnzing watch out for planes like 109s, 190s, 38s, LAs they can surprise you. If your in a turn and burn fight watch out for zeaks, hurris and any other plane that can easily out turn you. Dont get target fixated, listen to your sqauddies and the check 6s, also check your own six when your on an enemy. More times then not hes got a sqauddie flying in the area too.
Be patient, dont dive on the first con you see(big problem with us) stay in a good group and continue on and make sure he doesnt have some high buddies. Look for easy kills, Ill call out when Im setting up a rope on someone and will call out again when hes not taking the bait anymore. Dont chase 262s.........just aviod the SOBs before they even get close, a single 262 will have 3-7 cons dragging behind it in a furball(seen it alot).....Thats multiple friendlys out of the fight not including the ones the 262 is going to shoot down or rope/run for friendlys to dogpile, just leave them alone and go for HOs on them.
This is just a write-up for pigs interested in what I see as far as SA goes, Ill be writing more about different ones but feel free to throw in your own stuff. Id just like to see the sqaud get more deadly even when we dont have a good sized group on.
