Its interesting to me that Thatch designed this defensive maneuver to precipitate a HO shot....or, a better angle shot.

you know that maneuver can save our ass in lot things in the MA and can be the number ONE tactic to use in SDL.

I agree Recondo...believe it or not, the Germans used one that was more effective at low alts but I can't find an animation to post and I don't know how to describe it in writing. The Thatch requires discipline and a wingman.

I do that quite a bit against planes that are higher than me; One man Thach weave as I call it. One thing that is effective is to do that when they are diving on you (mainly from high six) Sucker then into going one way and when they get closer (600), cut throttle, combat trim off, flap out (if you are in pony anyway) and go vertical - 7 out of 10 times, it'll throw off their planned attack. I deleted my films/screen shots of my fighter stuff but the similar move is in the TBM (Bomber Section) if you want to check it out. It is the same prinicple anyway.

On a few ocasions me and waystin have used it in the MA and our amature exacution of it really did prolong the fight a few times
