Krup,
I've noticed that you like to have the convergence close in 200-300i range. For me I find it hard to hit targets with any degree of deflection when they are close, as such I have better aim when my convergence when it is set to 400-450. How are you aiming low deflection shots with the clsoe convergence?

It depends on what your idea of a low deflection shot is.
Point your gunsight atleast two plane lengths ahead of the guy you're trying to kill (at a distance of 200-400yrds) and your bullets should be right on target.

That is the 100mph ring from the early british gunsights. The diameter of the ring can be set for several wing spans at 200-250 yards. Most players who make their own sights eventualy create a variation on it.
I've found I always need help with the bullet drop compensation. Thats why mine have something below the pipper. In the heat of the moment my eyes go to the compensation ticks.
In the real gunsight you have another setting which changes the angle of your reflector to move the center pipper up or down to account for your convergence range or for shooting rockets or dropping bombs. In the game we add marks below the center dot to approximate this. A Tempest squaderon leader taped over the ring portion of the arpiture to get only the center dot from his light bulb. It allowed him and his men to see tanks on the cluttered ground to rocket them. He said it improved their accuracy by 40%. You may have seen some 2 dot sights which are inspired by that story.
Most players never go offline, turn on the lead computing gunsight, and attack the cons 90 degrees across the circle to see how truely far ahead of another plane you have to lead for snapshots. Depending on the cons speed it will be 2-3 plane lengths ahead. And they will be surprised how long you really have to hold down the trigger. Just tapping it will get sprites but no kaboom. Almost 2 full seconds.
