Sol thank you for getting me in there last night.
Guys the perfict place to learn and practice wingman tactics is in the DA's Fighter Town. The skill level in there is very low so the hoard makes great moving targets for gunnery by wingman teams. The angles you will take your shots at are exactly the same as in the MA. The threat level is a bit lower so you have the mental space to think about what you are doing.
We also can practice big wing cap patrols. The nature of the gerbils in the hoard is if several of us get low and slow the dinner bell rings and they swarm in from everywhere. This is where we can set them up to swarm in on a low patrol so the high cap can smash them from above. The best planes to do this with in Aces High unfortunatly are not the 109 series. Spits, ponies, F4u's even La7's as groups will work best. The 109's compression issues in dives require advanced training before we could fly them as teams.
Cap patrols require a minimum of 4 planes in each patrol level.
As Ardy and USVI started seeing in FT last night, two wing teams become self supportive naturaly and can hold off superior numbers if everyone makes their attack, breaks and gets back up on the perch. VOX communication and keeping separation from cons between attacks are the most important things to learn in wingman tactics.
