Hello Sol,
Please take my questions as an inquisitive student. My questions are concerning the following excerpt:
"If you have a climb rate, or energy advantage, the preferred method is to perform a 2nd immelman. This will immediately give you an altitude advantage. In some aircraft, those that have a very high degree of stability at low speeds, and good thrust to weight ratios, (Such as the P-38) A 3rd immelman can be performed. This gives even more advantage.
Since the goal during the merge is to have an angles AND an energy advantage, generally every fight should begin with this “double immelman”. "
1) Is the second immelman used to equalize E/Alt with con and/or try to bleed more E out of the con to gain angles?
2) Is the third immelman reserved for circumstances where you are at an advantage or disadvatage as far as con's E/ALT?
Your answers are appreciated,
