The vid says at 8,000 ft to throttle back to maintain a constant rate of climb. (This is at 9:50 in the vid).

Are they saying throttle back to climb better...??


(Edit) Ok, never mind. Throttling back is only done to make other adjustments, then they ramp it back up.

Simile - I believe. Using the word "like" is the key.

I believe a metaphor would be to simply say "The oversized sewing machine hummed along at 8,000 feet."
